The reserve is situated on the middle current of the Pinega river, tributary of the Northern Dvina on the territory of Pinezhsky District of the Arkhangelsk region.
Pinezhye - is a unique natural and cultural reserve, treasury of the traditional Pomor culture, true tourist "mecca" for ethnographers, spesialists in folklore, pilgrims and extreme lovers.
The Reserve is situated in the area of intensive cave development. Underground and surface cave landscapes of the territory are remarkable for its beauty and variety. On the territory of the Park there are more than 75 caves, 37 of which are more than 100 meters and 10 caves are more than 1 km. Cave density in this area is one of the highest in the world.
Tourists are offered a great variey of services: visiting the caves and stock stands, rufting and mountain skiing, fishing and ecological paths. History lovers may visit Krasnogorsky monastery where queen Sofia’s favourite prince Vasily Galitsin found his last shelter.
Additional information:
There is a complex reserve “Golubinsky” situated on the guarded zone of the “Pinezhsky” reserve. It was founded by the Reserve for organizing ecological educational activities. Natural objects of “Golubensky” reserve give great opportunities for different kinds of excursions.
