Solvychegodsky history and art museum

Solvychegodsky history and art museum was founded in 1919 in the building of Blagoveshensky cathedral – family cathedral of the Stroganov’s. There are about 6 thousand exhibits. The pride of the museum is its unique collections of Old Russian works of art of XVI – XVII centuries (icons of “stroganov’s school”); applied art of XVII – XVIII centuries, ethnography and way of life, data collection on history of the region.

In the Old Russian painting department there are 665 items, including icons of Stroanov’s painting. The collection of applied-decorative art includes most valuable collection of Stroganov’s sewing (16-17th centuries), collection of small plastic arts (17-19th centuries), highly artistic works of enamel art (16-19th centuries), 425 items of church garments with gold sewed neckpieces made of fabric of 16-19th centuries. There is a collection of rare, handprint and black letter books of 16-19th centuries, collection of documents (17-20th centuries) and photographs archive of the beginning of 20th century. Also there is a wide collection of household and ethnography articles: headwear and peasant gear of 19-20th centuries, wooden painted articles.
