Arts and cultural museums in Kaliningrad and Balti
The most western region of Russia, the land of sun amber and nonfreezing Baltic Sea, the cultural and tourist gates connecting Russia and Europe – all this is the Kaliningrad region. The rich history, the soft sea climate, unique landscapes attract a great number of visitors here.
The land history is rich in events and outstanding persons, reminders about them can be still met nearly everywhere. These are knight castles and ancient temples, fields of legendary battles, university building which remember the great philosopher Immanuel Kant.
And of course the Kaliningrad region is unimaginable without amber. This small area has concentrated 90 whole percent of the world amber resources. One can admire amber in the Museum of Amber in Kaliningrad, or even find a piece while wandering along the shore. Besides you can book the Amber Routs excursion that is arranged in the Jantarny settlement (Amber village in Russian). Here you will not only learn a lot about amber but as well see the process of amber extraction and processing. The rare tourist leaves the region without such a souvenir.
